We lived on farms, to have space and horses, with occasional snakes – and constant care. Daughter now lives on farm on city perimeter for same reason. She’s had Tiger Snake behind stove, another recently in kitchen, others in stables, etc. etc. I now live in leafy suburb happily without horses, AND snakes, and rejoice. She reckons I’m just paranoid! And getting old. But how does the "real world" appeal to you?

Ewwww- I’d move, fast. "Getting old"? No. staying smart. And alive.
yeah. safety first
Definetely yes I would move, I like snakes, but not in my house!
If every time you went to sleep, you woke up with spiders crawling all over you, would you try to sleep somewhere else or get rid of the spiders?
Cmon. YES
You don’t have to move to the suburbs. Just move to another farm.
What? not just a snake but a DEADLY one? Ohhh heckk no! I would move in a heartbeat.
Snakes?? NOT! Keep me in the warmth of a safe and none existance of rodents, reptiles and anything else that seems to go bump in the night or day!! YOUR right on guy!
ehh if there were snakes in my house… dunno if id survive. of course it would be different if id grown up that way.. i think the majorty of people (that i know haha) would find living with snakes unbearable and uncivilized!
and creepy!
:p
but who cares what everyone else thinks its a personal choice really no one should live for someone else
I must be spoiled . No snakes, mice, rats , spiders ,etc. I love nature but I don’t want it in my home . When I’m ready for nature I’ll go kayaking, fishing ,horse back riding, when I’m done I’ll come home.
There was a period in my life when I managed apartments in a very bad neighborhood. And you know what? Nowadays, far from that, I really enjoy not having a pistol under my pillow. I’m with you. Age or not, peace of mind =Priceless.
I would move
A: I’m scared of snakes
B: Health Hazard
i would buy a mongoose
In India it is the other way round: suburbs have snakes and yes, spiders, huge scorpions and lesser ones too. In towns and cities unless you are near fields, snakes are not that frequent, perhaps the odd one may stray inside streets, leave alone houses.
I live in a hill area devoid of snakes, but large spiders are there, no scorpions and more importantly no mosquitoes (touch wood).
He** yes. It’s frightening to be surprised by a snake in the garden, where you expect them to be. But in your kitchen. Pack the bags and move. I am a garden person, but not a snake person. We have a few cats to keep the mouse population down.
no I’d just give each one a name and play with them. they wood bee my best friends.
Holy Cow!! I would move quickly… in fact, I would just leave and have the movers pack the house!
I’m TERRIFIED of snakes (even large worms for that matter) and poisonous or not, I’m outta there. It’s basically wiggly things, snakes, lizards, worms, fish that I’m afraid of… makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
So, any snake outside and I’m running in the other direction. Any snake in the house and I’m afraid I’ve just soiled myself.
not moving, can’t lower my standing in the community
i caught a red bellied black snake in my back yard…not quite as-deadly as a tiger snake but poisonous just the same….i threw it on the b.b.q …and had it for lunch….true…..it tastes a little like chicken………seamanab
Ummm, regularly invaded? Are we talking poisonous? If so, I certainly wouldn’t say you were paranoid. Pretty awful to risk one’s life just to live on a farm. The country, stables, and horses can be visited at one’s leisure with risks significantly reduced.
I’d definitely find out whether the city is obligated to offer a repellant in these cases. If not, perhaps a store bought repellant would be useful? Pretty awful to invest so much work and time into a house and location that one enjoys just to be ousted by pests.
I think these snakes might be similar to common pests that can be found in other countries. Cockroaches and silverfish are in every house and apartment where I live, but if well controlled, they do not become a problem, if ever seen.
I know, at least, the rental tribunal (and if unsuccessful, in this respect) the city is obligated to exterminate. If this doesn’t apply or if one gets lost in bureaucratic loop-holes and tape, one is typically forced to move. Not fun, but necessary for health/safety, comfort, and peace-of-mind reasons.
