Is there any airline that will allow me to transport my pet snake?

by admin on September 7, 2010

I need to take my pet snake (an 18 inch ball python) from Tampa to Pittsburgh in May. Are there any airlines that will let me take it at checked baggage?

If not, is there any other way I can have her shipped up to me?

No. It’s against federal regulations to have a snake on a commercial plane… at all. Checked or anything. If you want to transport him, you’re going to have to get certified by UPS and mail him to yourself.

Sorry. The government just doesn’t want to take that risk with snakes.

Yes, you should be able to bring her on board. I saw puppies, kittens, and hedgehogs in carry on travel bags at LAX and Houston in the last 6 months.

You can only ship the snake thru delta dash or thru fed ex. No airline will allow a snake in check on baggage. If you can, you need to have someone ship the snake for you.
