You can have your pet snake out any where a person can expect to be able to bring a dog.
As for the discrimination, get used to it. People are dumb.
They can call the cops all they want, they will just get laughed at. They are just trying to bully you. Next time someone says that offer to call them yourself. You could go so far as to program the non-emergent police phone number into your phone.
maybe the park ………………
Any place where other animals are allowed. There are just some ignorant and scared people out there.
Is there anything you’re afraid of? Well, imagine walking calmly on the sidewalk, and someone shows up next to you with it within inches of you. Not good, right?
Most people are afraid of snakes. The best thing to do is step clear of approaching people, so they don’t feel threatened, and stand still, till they pass. Give them lots of room to go by, and just smile nicely.
Eventually, the neighorhood will get used to seeing you outdoors with your snake, and being considerate of them & their fears, and not “sticking the snake in their faces.”
It won’t take long, if you are polite, before people will begin to ask questions about it, and not long after that, before some will dare to touch it (the end that doesn’t bite, of course).
I had this same problem when I used to walk a 12 ft. Buttercup Berm. We didn’t stay out TOO long. She was heavy! lol
I hope this has been of help.
ur neighborhood or backyard is the only place u wont get too much static at. sorry.
i agree with the first answer. if they call the cops, the cops will just laugh at them. its no crime to have a snake. i have one and i take it out wherever i go just to scare people. its fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
we used to have a 10′ burm that we would take out in the front yard to let her get exercise (long story). even though the neighbours were terrified of snakes they always facinated by the snake and asked quesitons about her. we just explained about her and it got to the point that they would ask how the snake was doing.
when we had the snake out people would always stop and look at her with facination and ask about her. every once in a while someone would cross the street to avoid her but not too often.
i guess the point is just be respectful of peoples “space” dont walk too close to people that look really scared of your snake. if people stop you to talk about the snake just answer their questions and educate them about the snake. if you are comfortable with it ask if they want to touch it and see what it feels like. people are afraid of what they dont know about and a lot of people are facinated by snakes but are afraid of them because they dont know anything about them
take it anywhere you want, other people will juts have to deal with it, providing it isnt a venemous snake or anything like that then you arent breaking the law
just take it where you normally take it and if they threaten to call the cops just tell them next time you see there dog or cat you will call the cops on them. Tell them its just as legal having a snake outside as a dog. We take a 6 foot boa to the park and people will either come over to see it or run. You wont be able to avoid it do just make them mad if you have to to get your snake out. I wonder what people here are going to think when im walking down the street with a 4 foot savannah monitor and a ornate nile monitor 6 foot
