I have been trying to find snakes around my area because I’m a bit of a thrill seeker. However, the one snake that I knew got killed by our neighbor. I was wondering if anyone knew good areas to find snakes (I can handle poisonous or not).
I am not going to keep them as pets.
Where is good place to find snakes in Maryland?

Haha, NO, you cannot handle poisonous snakes. How would you like to be rushed to the hospital with a rattlesnake bite? I don’t think you parents would appreciate paying thousands of dollars because you purpousely picked up a dangerous snake? You’re underestimating the power of these snakes. They can and WILL bite you. Thrill-seeker or not, putting your life at risk is never a good idea.
If you want a pet snake, a wild-caught isn’t the way to go. You could find one at a pet store or buy one from a breeder. It’s always a good idea to put yourself first. Hundreds of people are killed by snake bites every year. I don’t want you to be one of those people
Dear CHS TE42,
Here is what I know…I hope it helps.
Rule 1: There are only 2 types of people who much with poisonous snakes they are:
•Those that have been bitten &
•Those that will be bitten
A dose(s) of anti-venin can run up to $30,000 if you receive a full invenomation and you have some nastys around there.
Rule 2: Wild caught snakes do not adjust the same as captively bred snakes and sometimes starve to death in captivity.
Rule 3: The best places to find potential pet snakes in your area is either at a pet store or online.
Right now Ben Siegal has some really cool checkered albino garter snakes on sale. Check around.
